When her son Kaeden was born in August 2004, Baby Kaed creator, Lavinia searched far and wide for the perfect, all-encompassing diaper bag that would suit both his and her needs. After searching far and wide, Lavinia realized that the market sorely lacked the all-in-one diaper bag/tote that was multi-functional, practical yet at the same time also chic and perennially stylish. She wanted a diaper bag that came with everything she or any fellow parent would essentially need, from a pacifier purse to a wipes case a dirty duds pouch and of course a cosmetics pouch for mom, changing mat, lots of pockets and somewhere to keep your cell phone. She was adamant in not having to additionally purchase supplemental baby essentials to complete her diaper bag and knew that she was not alone in her sentiment.
Kaeden, now almost 3, is still an integral part of Baby Kaed and Lavinia says that her company and diaper bag line has grown and changed as she has watched her own needs change and mature with her son. Lavinia designed the City Mom toddler tote when Kaeden got a little older and did not need as many baby items and the recently launched AVI-U bag means “I Love You” according to Kaeden. One of the diaper bags in the line is named Devani, which in Indian means dizzyingly happy or very in love expressing her undying love for her son.
Many of the diaper bag names are East Indian and reflect her unique heritage with the Jaipur bag named after the colorful and vibrant capital of Rajasthan in India to the Masala Bag, literally translated as the Indian term for “spices.” Her unique culture and free-spirited pizzazz also transcends to the eclectic colors she uses for her designs which include Pomelo green, tangerine orange and espresso brown.
Just because we smell of spit up & have leaky boob syndrome doesn’t mean we have to forego our fashionable ways!
